Mr Wong Yoon Foong

Wong Yoon Foong is an Ethnomusicologist and a Composer. His research is primarily concerned with the manifestation of identity through musical systems and practices, which has led to research applications as diverse as ethnomusicological publications, the teaching of composition, Classroom instruction of World music, conservation of musical practices, as well as the training of theory and aural musicianship.

Currently the Academic Director of Singapore Raffles Music College, Yoon Foong is also a course developer with the Singapore University of Social Sciences and a member of UNESCO organisations such as International Council of Traditional Music (ICTM) as well as the International Society of Music Education (ISME) and has spoken at the conferences of these organisations. He has also been invited to speak at public lectures and workshops in China as well as in Singapore.

Prior to teaching in a specialised music college, Yoon Foong was a school teacher, where in addition to teaching IB Music and specialised music programmes, he aided the Singapore Teachers’ Academy of the aRts (STAR) to research pedagogical methods and develop teaching resources.

Dr Nattapol Tantikarn

Nattapol Tantikarn holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Oregon School of Music and Dance and was awarded the University of Oregon Outstanding Graduate Keyboard Award in 2011 and the University of Oregon Outstanding Graduate Performer in Piano Pedagogy in 2016.

As an active and successful performer and teacher, Dr. Tantikarn taught at the School of Music and Dance University of Oregon and served as the Associate Director of the Piano Pedagogy Program from 2016 to 2017. In addition, Dr. Tantikarn was invited to adjudicate the Oregon Music Teachers Association Sonatina Festival Competition in Eugene, Oregon, USA, and to visit Guangxi Arts University (Nanning, China) in June and December of 2017 as visiting performer and lecturer.

Dr. Tantikarn has performed in several master classes held by leading artists and distinguished teachers from around the globe including André Watts, Leon Fleisher, Yefim Bronfman, Dmitri Alexeev, Angela Hewitt, Jacques Rouvier, Boris Berman and Dominique Merlet. At the University of Oregon, Mr. Tantikarn studied with Dean Kramer, one of the few pianists to have received lessons from the great Vladimir Horowitz (Mannes School of Music, New York City, USA) and at the National University of Singapore with Thomas Hecht, a student and teaching assistant of the legendary pianist Leon Fleisher (Peabody Conservatory of Music, Baltimore, Maryland, USA).

Dr. Tantikarn has received awards in several competitions including the first prize in the YAMAHA Music Festival and the second prize in the 5thPiyabhand Piano Competition (Thailand). Dr. Tantikarn was also a prizewinner of the Music Teachers National Association Young Artists Competition (Oregon and Northwest Division, USA), the 63rd Wideman International Piano Competition (Louisiana, USA), the Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition (New York City, USA) and was invited to participate in the 7th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition (Japan) and the 2015 Leeds International Piano Competition (UK).

Sheila Ngalimen earned an MBA in Hospitality Management, Queen Margaret University. She also acquired the BSc in Business Administration (Marketing) from the University of Wales, Prifysgol Cymru-UK. and has a Diploma of Business Studies from the Alexander Institute of Technology, Perth, Western Australia. Earned Diploma in TESOL, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (Distinctions).

Sheila heads the English Department and she brings a wealth of experience with her. She has taught in the mainstream schools in Singapore as an Adjunct Teacher, as well as in the International School arena as Assistant Director of Studies.

She has vast experience ranging from working in the corporate world as a Manager to being an educator, mentor and coach. She has also travelled vastly during the cause of her work and study, and her experience is portrayed through her warm personality and interactions with the people around her.
