Our academic team equips students with the entrepreneurial expertise to improve your employability in the modern music industry. There will be intensive, in-depth classes, designed to help students become well-rounded industry professionals behind the scenes.

Mr Kelvin Sng Li Rearn

Music Video Production Associate Lecturer

Kelvin Sng is an award-winning Singaporean film director and the Managing Director of Kelvin Sng Productions. His directorial short film debut “More Than Words” in 2005 was screened at international film festivals in Italy, Germany, Canada, UK, Romania, and Africa.

In 2006, he directed “Kichiro”, which premiered at Beijing Film Academy’s 5th International Student Film and Video Festival to a 1000-strong crowd. The second highest grossing Singapore film, his 2013 film “Taxi! Taxi!” (2013) won the Special Jury Award at ASEAN International Film Festival 2013.

Aside from directing commercials and music videos, he is a highly sought-after trainer in film and media programmes, having trained students and teachers in more than 100 schools and institutions to date.

Ms Lin Wan Ying Mindy

Mindy Lin has varied academic and musical interests, which have taken her on amazing journeys all over the world. She brings her eclectic experiences into the classroom, balancing academic knowledge with practical insight into the world of music and arts management, with the view that knowledge is made at the edges and across boundaries. Her research interests include audience development and xinyao (新谣).

An NIE-trained teacher with experience teaching a variety of student levels, she enjoys telling her students that she plays more than 10 instruments and is not a typical classical musician, as she loves karaoke and listening to Mandarin pop music. Her experiences as a percussionist have led her into the recording studio for both local and international projects. She is pleased to have recently picked up the viola, giving her the opportunity to walk the talk while spreading the message of lifelong learning and the joys of ensemble participation.

Mindy was previously a manager at the Singapore Wind Symphony and is now a member of the management team at the da ka:po Late Starters Orchestra.

Ms Suma Christal Dasayyan Sumathy

Suma Christal D.S. is a certified trainer, who has completed the Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment programme in Singapore. Her interests are in Marketing, Organizational Behaviour, Negotiation, and Management. In addition to holding twin MBAs from Birmingham University (U.K.) and The Hilton School of Management, she was trained at Grenoble Graduate School of Business in France to teach students pursuing higher education.

She has been involved in teaching and consultancy work for the past 20 years. In Singapore, she has taught many US, UK and Australian university programmes, including that of UniSIM. Her teaching experience with Ecole Nationale Des Ponts Chausses (France) has allowed to work with guest faculty from premier institutes such as MIT, Harvard, The London School of Economics, The University of Western Australia, and New York University.

She has conducted various research projects in South Asia and in Singapore on Advertiser and Advertising Agency Relationship, FMCG Goods and Alcohol Advertising. She has also conducted local seminars and training for young entrepreneurs, and worked in consultancies that focus on small businesses.

Mr Tan Bo Nian

Tan Bo Nian has more than 7 years of professional experience across a broad spectrum of industry sectors including Healthcare, F&B, Tech and Retails across the Asia Pacific. His roles include design, system integration, automation, marketing and business development.

Following his internship, he spent one year in Toronto with a wealth management company and another year in Los Angeles with a start-up venture. After 2 years of National Service as an liaison officer, he further pursued visual effects, working as a stereoscopic artist for films like Batman vs Superman, Tarzan and Alice in Wonderland under Double Negatives.

While working in the film industry, he founded Design Park Studio with his strong belief in User Experience. He later ventured into 3 more companies ranging from Video Production, Fabrication, and Events, which involve the creed of creative excellence and work ethic to the highest standards for every job. Some of the notable companies that he had worked on are Changi Airport Jewel, Hotel Indigo Katong, and Resorts World Sentosa.

Ms Helen Liu

Leading HR Practitioner

A thought leader, Ms Helen Liu has been leading HR teams by establishing several Leadership Development roadmaps, as well as the Operator’s Continuous Educational Program. In 1995, Ms Helen Liu worked as the Head of HR of Nokia Telecommunications Dongguan Operations in China. She joined Nokia Finland’s HR Department in 2007. Between 2010 and 2013, she worked as the Senior Business Partner of Microsoft Asia Pacific, Singapore.

As a HR practitioner, she assisted employees in making career decisions, and supported them in their career realisation through talent development programs, job rotation, high-potential program, short-term assignments, and more. In accordance with the Employment Assistance Program, she has also provided counselling to employees to resolve issues from work. In addition, she facilitated many workshops to encourage visionary discussions, including the Change Management Workshop and Transformation Workshop.
