Accommodation & Living

For international students, we recommend starting your search for accommodation before you arrive in Singapore and before the term begins. With housing in high demand, spots fill up quickly. The sooner you start looking, the better your chances of landing a cosy spot that fits your needs.

Avoid securing housing through sketchy means like mail or phone calls. It is always best to meet potential landlords in person and check out the place for yourself. If you are planning to search for housing after arriving in Singapore, make sure to negotiate terms and amenities face-to-face with your future roommates.

Type Of Accommodation

Shared Apartment
Monthly rental: S$1500 – S$5,000

Round up your pals and consider renting a house or apartment together. You will share common spaces like the living room and kitchen. Just remember, you will need to sort out cleaning and utility bills among yourselves.

Room in Occupied Apartments
Monthly rental: S$500 – S$1,500

For a more budget-friendly option, look into renting a room in an apartment already occupied by the owner in a HDB flat. You will need to negotiate with the owner for shared amenities like laundry, cooking facilities, telephone, television, and Wi-Fi.

Private Student Hostels
Monthly rental: S$400 – S$1,200

If you are after a ready-made community, check out privately operated hostels that cater to students who possess a Student’s Pass issued by Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA). Each hostel has its own vibe and amenities, so you can find the one that suits your style and budget.
